Coral Reef Watch
Project Information

CoRViL is a a joint venture of the
National
Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the
Great
Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA), and the
Australian
Institute of Marine Science (AIMS). This venture will provide an automated,
cooperative exchange of electronic data, computer processing power and remote
sensing tools for the purpose of monitoring the coral reef environment on the
Great Barrier Reef. It is anticipated that this effort will eventually provide a
model for monitoring physical processes at other sensitive coral reef areas
throughout the world.
The CoRViL collaborative agreement is provisionally documented in
1998
Climate-Induced Bleaching of Great Barrier Reefs1, with refinements
therein soon to come.
