Aspergillosis is now known to infect 6 species of gorgonia within 5 genera (Pseudopterogorgia, Gorgonia, Plexaura, Pseudoplexaura, and Plexaurella). Pathogenic spores of Aspergillus sydowii have been isolated from African Dust deposited in the Wider Caribbean.
