Gal,-G.; Genin,-A. Coral reef: A factor influencing zooplankton distribution. ISR.-J.-ZOOL. 1993 vol. 39, no. 1, p. 58. Previous studies show that significant predation on zooplankton occurs over and near coral reefs. We therefore postulated that a body of water, rich in zooplankton, that comes in contact with the coral reef would gradually be depleted of zooplankton. This depletion should be detectable both in time and space. Zooplankton was sampled both temporally, by repetitive sampling from a parcel of water as it moved along the reef, and spatially, by sampling at different distances from the reef. The temporal sampling was replicated away from the reef.
